About Typing Speed Test

A typing speed test measures how fast and accurately you type, in words per minute (WPM). Pick a duration of 15, 30, or 60 seconds, type the words shown, and the timer starts on your first keystroke — at the end you get your WPM and accuracy, with your best score saved so you can practice and beat it. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute uses the standard of five characters per word: it counts your correctly typed characters, divides by five, then divides by the minutes elapsed.
What is a good typing speed?
The average is around 40 WPM. 60–70 WPM is proficient, and 80+ WPM is fast. Accuracy matters as much as raw speed.
How long is the typing test?
Choose 15, 30, or 60 seconds. A shorter 15- or 30-second test gives a quick check, while 60 seconds gives a steadier read on your real speed.
Does accuracy affect my score?
Yes. Only correctly typed characters count toward your WPM, so mistakes lower your score unless you correct them with backspace.
Is my typing saved or uploaded?
No. The test runs fully in your browser; only your best WPM is stored locally so you can beat it next time.
