About Keyboard Tester

A keyboard tester checks that every key on your keyboard registers correctly. Press keys and each one lights up on the on-screen layout, turning green once tested — so you can quickly find dead keys, stuck keys, or ghosting. Switch between QWERTY and AZERTY layouts and PC or Mac key labels, and see the key, code, and keyCode of your last press. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is recorded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I test my keyboard?
Just press each key. Keys light up as you press them and turn green once tested, so any key that doesn't respond is easy to spot.
Does it support AZERTY and Mac keyboards?
Yes. Switch the layout between QWERTY and AZERTY and the platform between PC and Mac — the on-screen keys relabel to match (for example Command and Option on Mac). It detects Mac automatically.
What are 'ghosting' and 'stuck' keys?
Ghosting is when pressing several keys at once drops some presses; a stuck key registers continuously. The live highlight makes both easy to see.
What do key, code, and keyCode mean?
'key' is the character produced, 'code' is the physical key's identifier (like KeyA), and 'keyCode' is the legacy numeric code — useful for developers.
Is anything I type recorded?
No. The tester runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing — keystrokes are only used to light up the on-screen keyboard.
