About Mic Test
A mic test checks that your microphone is working before a call or recording. Click start and allow microphone access, then speak — the level meter and waveform respond to your voice in real time, and a badge confirms once sound is detected. Your audio is analyzed locally in your browser; nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does the browser ask for microphone permission?
- The test needs live access to your mic to show the level and waveform. Access stays in your browser — no audio is sent anywhere — and stops the moment you click Stop or close the page.
- The meter isn't moving — what's wrong?
- Check the right microphone is selected in your system settings, that it isn't muted, and that no other app is using it. If permission was blocked, re-enable it in your browser's site settings.
- Is my audio recorded or uploaded?
- No. Everything runs in your browser using the Web Audio API. The tool only measures the live signal — nothing is stored or transmitted.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers too; grant microphone permission when prompted and speak to see the meter respond.
