- How do I calculate sales tax on a price?
- Multiply the pre-tax amount by the tax rate. For example, $100 at 8.25% is $100 × 0.0825 = $8.25 in tax, for a $108.25 total. This calculator does it instantly.
- How do I remove sales tax from a total?
- Turn on 'Amount already includes tax'. This reverse sales tax calculator divides the total by 1 plus the rate to find the pre-tax price, then shows the tax that was included — handy for backing tax out of a receipt.
